What its about
We are partnered up with a 1st grader from the Monarch School. We work with them and get to know them on a personal level. As we get to know them, we start designing nightlights for them. We base them on their personality and what they like. My buddy loves rocket ships, so, I made a design that is a rocket shooting into space. I'm sure he'll love it!!!
On a Personal Level
Me and my buddy are very good friends. we have lots in common, and he seems comfortable around me and my partner, Paul. It didn't start like this tho. He was shy when he first met us. I understood why, I can relate to him in this way. So, I started to talk to him like if he were a friend I'd known before. I acted comfortable around him, and asked him questions. I think he felt better because he started to open up to us more as the day went by.
Nightlights
We worked on making nightlights with the help of Mr. Ted, and Mr. Phil. The lights would have to be solar charged, and would have LED lights to make it shine. To make this, we had to learn about electricity, and how a current works.
Before actually making the nightlights, we needed a design or "napkin sketch" we started off with a drawing. This would then be put on a computer, and would be traced on Inkscape. Inkscape is a program that helped us with making the design as "streight" as possible. After lots of touching up, we would lazer cut the pieces that we needed for the actual nightlight from wood. We put all the wires and things like that inside the wooden done product, and put it together.

The Story
like the nightlight, we first had to draw the story out. Mr Joshua (Art teacher) helped us with creating the carackters. We started off with an idea of what we would write about, then, we would do a rough draft. This was commented on, and changed many times before actually comming to the final draft. The final draft was overviewed on more time by classmates before being approved by Miss Sara. It would be sent to publishing.
